It’s probably no surprise that the deaf, one-eyed, mis-shapen monster imagined 165 years ago by Victor Hugo would resurface in the Disney version as a gee-whiz, cuddly creature with the innocence of E. With a score by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz — the team behind last year’s “Pocahontas”– that lacks, on first hearing, any breakout numbers, “Hunchback” doesn’t play or sound like the kind of blockbuster Disney is used to.
On the other hand, it is surprising just how dark and horrific Disney’s visually astonishing 34th animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is for most of its 86 minutes.
With its complex architecture: from the two entrance doors to the spiers and numerous statues adorning the building, the church deserves a visit.
Bright inside, I would particularly like to mention the beautiful carved wooden pulpit and the Princes de la Tour and Taxis chapel (at the bottom of the left side entering the main door), but I think that all the interior is worth a visit.
We enjoyed our visit despite some beggars in front of the church.

“Our mission is to directly engage our audiences with the works of Shakespeare both on the page and on the stage.
