That is expected behavior with jailbroken devices, as most modern jailbreaks like Tai G jailbreak, disable OTA updates to ensure jailbreakers don’t accidentally install the update and end up losing the jailbreak.
So the only option jailbreakers have is to update their device to i OS 9 using i Tunes.
So i been hearing that the official [Untethered] jailbreak for i OS 4.3.1 is going to be released really soon, so i want to update my i Touch to 4.3.1 and i know if i do that it will "erase" the jailbreak, but what else does it erase when i update?
will it erase my contacts, camera roll pics and vids, notes ?
Here’s how to remove your jailbreak and restore stock i OS to your i Phone, i Pad or i Pod Touch.
Your reasons for restoring will vary, but one reason people often choose to get rid of their jailbreak is to install the latest (not yet jailbroken) version of i OS.
Then put the device into DFU mode: 1) Power off the device. 5) Let go of the power button but not the home button for another 10 secs. It will detect your i Pad and inform you it is in recovery mode.More to the point, most i OS software updates modify your hardware’s baseband version, which means if you’re dependent on your jailbreak for an unlock, you will lose your unlock when you finally do upgrade. One way of potentially restoring your unlock is to save your SHSH blobs, which is what is used to authenticate your i Phone with Apple.and LAST, do i just 1.backup my i Touch 2."Download and Update" or what? Anything official to Apple will remain functional such as contacts, notes and App Store apps.Howver maintaining everything depends on the next jailbreak which seems to be a redsn0w, I'd say wait till the next jailbreak is out and ask again; in all cases you should create a backup in i Tunes before updating, this will come in handy in case you run into problems.
